The Monument Protection Bill in the Texas House has cleared its first major hurdle. Your action is needed now to move it through the committee where “good bills go to die”.
House Bill 583, the Monument Protection Act by Representative James White, was successfully voted out of the Culture, Recreation, and Tourism last night on 5-2 vote. This moves it on the the House Calendars Committee which has traditionally been where bills arriving at this point in the session die.
We can give this bill, which protects Texas monuments, memorials, and markers, a fighting chance by intense action directed at the Calendar Committee. To be clear, if this is not done the House version of the Monument Protection Bill will die.
Call the Chairman of the Calendars Committee, Representative Four Price at (512) 463-0470 at tell him that you want House Bill 583 by Rep. James White moved to the House floor and out of Calendars as soon as possible.
