2023-01-10Texas Independence Referendum ActPersonal visitI went to her office on opening day of the 88th Leg Session along with several other TNM members from Comal County. Carrie is friendly toward us and has expressed support for TEXIT. She said she would support the bill when it comes before her and may even co-sponsor it. I have shared the actual bill with her before this meeting. There were at least 5-6 TNM members in her office for the opening day who are part of the Republican Party of Comal County, and one gentleman is the father of her campaign manager. Another gentleman had a chat with me and said that he had made contact with her father as well who is pro TEXIT so that seems to be a good sign as well (that she is surrounded by pro TEXIT family and supporters)
2023-03-12Texas Independence Referendum ActPersonal visitI met with Terry Franks CoS and Paul R was in attendance. I informed Terry I am a constituents and asked for Rep Isaacs support as a co-author. He said they had received a lot of support and they were considering co-authoring. They planned on voting for it if it remained as filed but would not hard commit.
2023-03-12Texas Independence Referendum ActPersonal visitOn Thursday March 2 while delivering invitainvitations for the reception on Monday, March6 I spoke with a male staffer. He said Carrie would not file or cosponsor but she would vote in favor if it comes to a floor vote because she has heard from a large number of her constituents that want a vote and she believes it is her duty to do what her constituents want.
2023-03-27Texas Independence Referendum ActPhone conversationI called Representative Isaac's office and spoke with Cassandra regarding scheduling an appointment. She said that we are welcome to stop by at any time to say hello, but that Rep. Isaac's schedule is very full at this time. She is still considering whether or not she would co-author the bill. She is an ABSOLUTE YES vote on the floor, and firmly believes that the people should be given the opportunity to vote on this bill.
2023-03-27Texas Independence Referendum ActPhone conversationI spoke with Cassandra regarding setting up a meeting on 3/29 or 3/30. She commented that we have been in the office many times, and are always welcome to stop by. Rep. Isaac's schedule is very full for this week, but Cassandra was able to tell me two things. First, she isn't sure whether or not Rep. Isaac would co-author the bill, she is still trying to make that decision. Second, Rep. Isaac is an ABSOLUTE YES, when it comes to voting for the bill on the House floor. She believes that this is the right of the people and she will not stand in the way of that right.
2023-03-30Texas Independence Referendum ActPersonal visitI stopped by Carrie Isaac's office to urge her to support the bill. Her staff said that she would vote for it if it came to the floor. I pressed them and asked if she would co-author, and they said she wasn't sure about that. I asked if she would talk to Rep. Hunter about bringing it to a hearing, telling him that it was important to her constituents. They also said she was unsure about that.
