2023-02-15Texas Independence Referendum ActPersonal visitI met with Leah Clark, his chief of staff. We met at the Georgetown office and I had an appointment. It all comes down to the fact that knowing the financial situation of Texas as she does, we receive a lot of federal dollars and that would be a big adjustment for us. She also shared that we would never be able to leave peacefully. She said this is an issue that would cause greater political divide within our state. She said a referendum is not something Texas does, that is a California thing to do. So, in short, No. I had a pleasant conversation, she was never condescending, she appreciated my efforts to be involved. She understood the sentiment behind the visit and took my packet to give to the Senator.
