2022-10-12Texas Independence Referendum ActPhone conversationI visited Jetton's Sugarland office Oct 1 2022, but no one was there so I left material relating to the Texas First Pledge and Texit. I invited him to any nearby TNM meetup to learn more. I voted for Jetton two years ago. (after redistricting he is no longer my rep). On Oct 12th I followed up with a phone call. I talked to his staff to see if they got all the items I left by the door. They said they think so. I verbally invited Jetton to reach out to myself or the TNM to learn more about TEXIT and after he learns more he might change his mind and become a supporter of having the vote.
2022-12-08Texas Independence Referendum ActPhone conversationI left a voice mail for someone to call me back about getting an appointment with the office.
2022-12-13Texas Independence Referendum ActPhone conversationJacey's office called me back. I spoke to Casey Williams. I told her I wanted to make an appointment to talk about Jacey writing the HB or sign on as coauthor of a HB for TEXIT, which is similar to last sessions HB1359. I told her I am coming on behalf of around 400 people who signed my petition and are verified as registered voters and in addition the paper work is notarized. Appointment goal is to achieve a minimal level of education about the larger subject of TEXIT. Point the office toward resources to learn more on the subject. Offer future educational support as needed by being a point of contact for their office. Make sure they understand Article 1 sec 1 and 2 of the Texas Constitution. As the United States is failing in its explicit duty under the "Guarantee Clause" of the U.S. Constitution to "guarantee to every State in the Union a Republican Form of government and shall protect each of them against Invasion." U.S. Const. art. IV, 4, the Texas Constitution appears to impose a duty to have a referendum on statehood and independence.
2023-01-12Texas Independence Referendum ActPersonal visitI had a Zoom call today with Legislative Aid, Jason Haug from Jacey Jetton's office. I recorded audio of the interaction. Jason was given the following items: Texas constitution article 1, sec 1 and 2., RPT platform plank 33, and 225, Edwards county Resolution and article, full info on SurveyUSA Poll #26381, the new bill (still in Leg council) with no number yet and snapshot of TNM v META lawsuit. The Zoom lasted 26 minutes. Jason said that Jetton believes supporting a Texit referendum would violate his oath to support the US Constitution and the Texas constitution. (That's a mystery). Jason said that the rep would need to see that 90% of Texans and 90% of the legislature support a Texit referendum before he would support it. (anything less he would be violating oath??). He seemed to conflate support for the referendum with support for Texit itself. He was very clear that he's not hearing the constituents in the district clamoring for the Texit vote. I think those are the key points, the important take-aways for us. Here is my Post Zoom email to Jason. Jason, Here is the TEXIT packet, the Bill and additionally provided is the wording from the first lawsuit filed in Texas; TNM v META in regards to the new Texas law making it illegal to censor. It's worth a look. Procedurally elected Texas officials may be in default of following its own constitution by denying the people their rights under Article 1 sec 1 and 2.  A vote to appear on the November 2023 ballot costs no money to the tax payers. A sponsor of such a bill does not have to correlate to that particular sponsor's personal vote in the matter. That sponsor is simply following in his or her oath to the Texas constitution and the US constitution by allowing the vote. It is clearly not OK to prevent the vote. Preventing the vote is like elected officials voting "NO we are not leaving the union" for everyone, year after year. You can not know an answer to this question until it is on the ballot. Not to mention no one is alive who voted to join the union in 1845.  It is way past time for a firm assessment on the matter via a vote on the ballot.  Because the United States is failing in its explicit duty under the “Guarantee Clause” of the U.S. Constitution to “guarantee to every State in the Union a Republican Form of government and shall protect each of them against Invasion.” U.S. Const. art. IV, 4, the Texas Constitution Article 1 sec 1 and 2 appears to impose a duty to have a referendum on statehood and independence. You asked me who else is onboard with the vote on statehood. Senator Lois Kolkurst leans yes in upholding her oath and giving the people a right to vote. Reps Bryan Slaton, Cody Harris, Steve Toth and Andrew Murr have come out with their declaration expressing people should have the right to vote for Independence. I have personally spoke with Brandon Creighton and Terri Leo Wilson and both favored a vote in a private discussion to me. Brandon Creighton was really favorable towards a vote while Terri was open minded to learn more. I have also spoken to Gary Gates and he wants more information.  I got two signatures on my petition from candidates in this past Federal election. I also got several candidates to sign the petition who ran for State positions.  I realize Jetton did not campaign this election as he had no opponents and therefor no need to query his constitutes. I hope to help bridge the gap. Please send me the recording because as you know I have 100's of people interested in this call.  I look forward to working with your office in the future.
