@SenatorNichols I want a vote on #TEXIT! Please support the Texas Independence Referendum Act.

2022-06-28 | Texas Independence Referendum Act | Personal visit | I spoke with Senator Nichols at the Convention and informed him of the TexasFirst pledge, as well as the planks in the platform directly related to Texas independence. I strongly encouraged him to sign the pledge and to attend our local meetings in Lufkin. He was noncommittal. I will be following up with a stronger word of encouragement focusing on Planks 33 and 224, as well as Rule 44. |
2022-07-28 | Texas Independence Referendum Act | Personal visit | Spoke with him at the RPT Convention SD3 breakout meeting on 6/16/22. I told him I’d be contacting him soon. |
2022-07-31 | Texas Independence Referendum Act | Personal visit | At the Republican Convention in Houston (2022), I spoke with Mr. Nichols about Texas independence and personally invited him to the local group meetings in Lufkin. I stressed to him that I am his constituent and, along with many others, we would like to discuss this issue. He was noncommittal. |
2023-01-19 | Texas Independence Referendum Act | Personal visit | In Austin I was able to speak with Senator Nichols. I provided him with a copy of our Bill and the Texit book. I spoke with his Chief of Staff, Angus Lupton, for at least 10 minutes then he went and retrieved Senator Nichols for me. I wouldn’t call Senator Nichols exactly warm to the idea of Texit, however, he said he was willing to talk to me further about it. |
2023-02-17 | Texas Independence Referendum Act | Personal visit | Delivered the packet to his district office in Lufkin on 17 Feb. 2023. His District Director Shawn Dunn was not there. I left the packet with Linda Parker, District Director for Trent Ashby. She promised to give the packet to Ms. Dunn when she returned to the office. |
2023-03-28 | Texas Independence Referendum Act | Phone conversation | Spoke with Angus from his office. Told him I fully supported HB3596 and would love to get the people of TX a vote on reasserting it’s independence. I asked what the Senator thought about the bill and he said the Sen thought that had been settled 150 years ago. I told him it’s a completely different world today. I asked him if he knew how many new nations had declared their independence since WWII. He said he didn’t. I said “would you believe more than 140?” He said “Wow”! I told him the interesting part was none of them have the potential that Texas does with what would be the 9th or 10th highest GDP in the world. I told him if we got the cloud of the US Govt out from on top of us, Texans would do a great job of governing ourselves. He said the Sen would agree with me there. He asked if a companion bill had been filed. I told him no. I told him my wife and I would be in Austin this Thurs and next M, T, & W and we’d love to sit down and discuss this with them. He told me to drop by the office. |
