TEXIT can no longer be denied. With the federal government constantly stomping on the rights of the people and ignoring the cries of Texans for security on our borders, people are waking up. Texans and others are finally starting to realize that a national divorce is the only solution to the chaos and socialist Marxism being promoted and forced by the unelected bureaucrats in D.C.
As of March of 2021, supporters of the Texas Nationalist Movement were called out in the media as being radicals, racist, and traitors for even suggesting that Texas should leave the union and become an independent nation. Now, less than six months later, it is finally being recognized as the only intelligent and feasible solution.
Although organized support for TEXIT has been around for over 25 years and has been advocating for independence on many fronts over several decades, Daniel Miller exclaims, “There is victory on the horizon!” Support and credibility for Texas Independence are snowballing in the media, the legislature, and the people.
The leaders and members of the TNM have been hard at work promoting the solution, not only to Texans but to other states, as well. On September 20th, Daniel Miller was interviewed by David Brody on The Water Cooler, and asked this question to all the states: “If the state that you live in right now was already an independent nation among nations…whose laws began and ended right inside the border… would you vote to join the union?” The answer is a confident NO!
New Hampshire certainly shares our sentiments about the federal government’s overreach. They submitted legislation on September 14th to place their independence referendum on the ballot for November 2022. Like HB1359, it still needs to pass the House and Senate to be placed on the ballot, but hopefully, their elected legislators will represent their constituents more accurately than those in Texas. If it passes, they will need to get 66% of the voters to vote ‘yes’, and the amendment will be added to their constitution, which, according to The Liberty Block, “would officially sever all ties with Washington, D.C., becoming a self-governing nation-state.”
Other states are also promoting and researching independence from D.C. According to the Casper Star-Tribune, Wyoming Republican Party Chairman Frank Eathorne states, “We are straight-talking, focused on the global scene, but we’re also focused at home. Many Western states have the ability to be self-reliant, and we’re keeping eyes on Texas, too, and their consideration of possible secession.”
California had petitions circulating similar to the TNM’s back in 2020. According to Ballotpedia, the California Independence Referendum would have allowed a special election in May 2021 to pose the question to the people of becoming an independent nation in the form of a republic. Their efforts failed to produce results. However, the hopes of CalEXIT remain in the hearts and minds of some scholars, such as writer David French. In his 2020 book Divided We Fall: America’s Secession Threat and How to Restore Our Nation, he argues that polarization is so extreme that the country may split, suggesting scenarios such as “a Texas departure rooted in abortion politics, and a guns-rights clash in California.” (Mercury News, 2021)
Petitions and media appearances are not the only strategies the TNM is using to make TEXIT a reality. The Take Texas Back (TTB) program is working hard to replace the self-serving bureaucrats right here in Texas with Texas-serving representatives who will advocate and work toward our independence. Incumbents and candidates are also starting to take the TNM seriously. Amid serious pressure from TNM members and supporters, several current legislators have already announced that they are not seeking re-election.
The issue of TEXIT has become important enough to gain the attention of all three candidates who are challenging Abbott’s gubernatorial office. All three candidates — Allen West, Don Huffines, and Chad Prather — have all agreed to be a part of a Town Hall Meeting hosted by TNM President Daniel Miller to discuss the issue. Although the invitation was also extended to Abbott, he declined the invitation. All three challengers have also signed the TNM’s petition to get the Independence Referendum placed on the primary ballot in Spring 2022; Abbott’s signature is blatantly absent.
The challengers understand that TEXIT is a campaign issue. With almost 420,000 registered supporters statewide, they cannot ignore the windfall of not taking the issue seriously. Allen West has sat down with Miller on several occasions, and has even posted on social media that if Texas were to elect him President of the Republic of Texas, then “just call me El Presidente!” However, he has inferred to other TNM leaders that TEXIT supporters are not patriots, and he says, “I would rather see Texas lead, rather than secede.”
Chad Prather has invited Daniel Miller to be on his popular YouTube show on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. There is no doubt that the issue of Texas Independence and Prather’s stance on the issue will be discussed. Prather has already spoken many times on his show about the ‘sovereignty of Texas’, and that Texas should not “ask permission from the federal government for anything!”
Although Huffines has not addressed TEXIT with the media, several TNM members have reported positive interactions with him about the issue. However, in a conversation with Miller, he stated that in two years he would have Texas running so well that everyone will forget about Texas independence. He has agreed to be a participant in the TNM’s Governor’s Race Virtual Town Hall on November 7th Town Hall, so hopefully, his stance on the issue will be clarified.
There is no longer any doubt that TEXIT is a serious and legitimate solution in the minds of the people. As awareness for the facts grows, and the disdain of the federal government’s failures multiplies exponentially, support for TEXIT is becoming mainstream and widely accepted as necessary. Daniel Miller states on the Tom Woods Show that he has people ask him all the time, “When is TEXIT going to happen?” His answer is clear: “It’s happening right now, you just have to open your eyes and look!” As Tom Woods says, “There has never been a better time [in our lifetime] to get people to listen to the idea of independence and get it done.” But as Miller says, “We’re not there yet, but we’re close. We haven’t crossed the finish line, but we’re almost there. What this means for us is we still have a lot of work to do.”
