At 5:27 p.m., I called Ken Palmer's cell phone at 956-566-1338 and left a message for him to call me. In my message, I spoke with the Chapas, and he has requested help to get his green check mark setup on his local groups page. I then called 704-699-6901, another number we have for him, and reached him. He stated that he "has dropped out so far down the line" in his role as a LC. According to my call last night with Manuel, I thought he was ready to start back up this month and get his regular meetup noted on his group page. Ken's last contact with the Chapas was a month ago. I asked him point blank if he is able to fulfill the full duties of an LC that include things like one meetup per month, two outreaches per month, keeping in regular contact with the TNM, and participating in Zoom calls, and he said no. He says he wishes he could do more and appreciates me being a straight shooter with him. I told him that even if he cannot fulfill the duties of an LC, we always appreciate people who can spread the TEXIT word to friends and neighbors. I asked him if he would send a resignation email to the Chapas letting him know their decision. We ended the call on friendly terms, and I wish him no ill will; it is just that we need all TNM local groups up and functioning. I sent a message to Field Director Paul Robie alerting him of this and asking how likely it would be for the Chapas to drive three hours to Mission three times a month to do a meetup and two outreaches. If they cannot do this, I suggested we close TNM Mission.
