Join the TNM including Nate Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff, Daphne Armour for the grand reopening of the Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed.
It has undergone a $51 million renovation over the last two years. Visitors will experience state-of-the-art exhibits at the Star of the Republic Museum and enhanced historical storytelling in the Visitor’s Center to introduce real people that lived and led the Republic of Texas. The Washington Townsite Experience will allow visitors to walk the streets of Washington, experiencing reproductions of pivotal landmarks in Texas history. The program “Citizens of the Republic” will take place from 10:30 AM until 4:30 PM at the newly recreated Washington Townsite Experience.
TNM will attend beginning at 10:00 AM at the Visitor Center for the special ribbon cutting. TNM supporters will take a group photo around 10:30 AM after the ribbon cutting and another photo after lunch. We will eat lunch on site utilizing the food trucks and will attempt to find a common time and place to sit and eat together.
There’s no formal TNM program, just fellowship and enjoying the exciting changes to a crucial part of Texas history.
You are encouraged to wear our Official TNM Independence navy blue t-shirt. If you do not have your Official TNM Independence shirt, you can grab one HERE, otherwise please wear other TNM navy blue shirts or any navy blue shirt if you don’t have one from the TNM.
The event will run until 5:00 PM, however, it’s not guaranteed that TNM leadership will stay beyond 2:00 PM. For more information or questions about this event, please contact Daphne Armour at, daphne.armour@thetnm.org.
