For our first event, it is more about getting the Homeschool families together in one location than about Texas History. Since we are meeting in June, we decided to visit a museum and then a water park. There are 3 stops for this event.
The first stop (and the address to use for the location) will be at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. Address: 3232 Briarcrest Drive – Bryan, Texas 77802. We will meet at 11 AM – everyone will need to pay $3.50/attendee at the front desk. Please wear a TNM shirt, if you have one, so that we can identify one another. We will meet at the front entrance.
The next stop will be Adamson Lagoon Pool – 1900 Anderson St, College Station, TX 77840. We will plan on arriving here around 1, when they open. We can eat lunch here (bring a sack lunch or grab something on the way to the park) and the kids can interact and meet new friends in a cool and wet location. This is a small water park with a baby pool area. It will cost $7 per person, but there are plans in place to lower the cost to $3 per person. Watch the Homeschoolers for TEXIT affinity group page for more details.
The final stop will be at Century Square – 170 Century Square Dr. #150 – College Station, TX 77840. There is a parking garage behind Mo’s Irish Pub where you can find free parking. We will first go into the George Hotel and get a Homeschool picture in front of the large mural of the Texas flag made from books. After that, the families can stick around and play in the green space at Century Square – as well as order food from many surrounding restaurants.
Please note that the venue will change throughout the day. This is event is for Homeschool families but all are welcome. If you have questions, please call Angela at the phone number below.
